How to Use Google Appointment Schedules with Multiple Calendars

To make a Google appointment schedule consider more than one calendar, edit the schedule on a computer, open its Calendars settings, and select the calendars it should check for conflicts. Checking secondary calendars requires an eligible paid plan. Google's plan comparison includes Google One Premium, Google AI Pro and Ultra, Workspace Individual, and supported business, enterprise, education, and nonprofit editions.

The selected calendars matter more than the calendars you happen to display on your own screen. A booking page can show an hour as open if it is not checking the calendar containing your commitment.

Set up the native schedule first

In Google Calendar on a computer, choose Create → Appointment schedule. Set the duration, normal availability, time zone, and other booking details, then continue through the booking-page setup.

Google does not offer schedule creation through its Android or iPhone Calendar apps, and some features depend on the account plan. Google's appointment-schedule guide explains the current requirements.

If your appointments all live in the primary calendar, this native setup covers the conflict check without another service.

Select the conflict calendars deliberately

Open the appointment schedule for editing and find its Calendars section. Select the calendars that should affect booking availability and make sure calendar checking is enabled.

Google can check calendars you own, manage, or subscribe to, subject to secondary-calendar eligibility. A schedule created on a shared calendar may have restrictions on selecting other calendars. Google's availability instructions cover those limits.

For example, a tutor might check Work, Personal, and Classes so a student cannot choose a lesson time overlapping an existing class. Selecting a holiday information calendar could block whole days if its events are marked busy.

Busy events and all-day blocks

The conflict check reads each event's availability status. A free reminder can leave the time bookable, while an all-day busy event can remove the whole day.

Review a representative day. Are appointments that really occupy you marked busy? Are informational birthdays and deadlines accidentally reserving time?

For help choosing statuses, compare Busy, Free, Tentative, and Out of office before changing a whole calendar's events.

Other settings can hide or expose times

Check the schedule's normal hours, date-specific changes, booking window, minimum notice, buffers and daily limits. A slot missing from the booking page is not always caused by a calendar conflict.

Likewise, an apparently empty calendar does not mean every hour should be offered. You may want lunch or travel time excluded through the schedule's own settings rather than creating extra appointments.

Keep the booking page's time zone in mind when comparing it with your calendar. Check the actual date, especially when daylight-saving changes affect your location or the visitor's.

If a commitment lives outside Google

First check whether an authorized calendar subscription can make the source available for Google's native conflict selection. A read-only feed can be suitable for some schedules, but refresh delays make it less dependable for last-minute changes.

You can also maintain generic busy events in a Google calendar that the schedule checks. Manual blocks are reasonable for occasional appointments; an approved automation or sync service can maintain changing copies.

Another booking service may directly support the external providers you need. If the main requirement is a booking page, compare that option first; copying events into Google may be unnecessary.

Using Avum as the copying layer

Avum's Sync Rules can copy relevant occupied time from connected Outlook, iCloud, CalDAV or read-only ICS sources into a writable Google calendar. Select that destination in the Google appointment schedule's availability settings.

Keep the copied fields minimal where the calendar is work-facing: a generic title and the necessary time may be enough. Avum needs permission and server support to write copies to a CalDAV calendar. ICS links remain read-only.

Avum is doing the event-copying job here. Google still runs the booking page and its availability rules. Do not assume a successful copy proves the schedule is checking the destination.

Verify without making a real booking

Create a busy test event inside an otherwise offered hour. Open the booking page as a visitor and confirm the slot is unavailable. Move the source event and check the new result after updates arrive, then remove the sample.

If the original issue persists, see why a visible personal calendar can still lead to double-booking to trace which calendar the booking system actually checks.
