Avum vs SyncGene: The Calendar Sync Alternative as SyncGene Moves to CiraHub

SyncGene's pricing page now says the product is “evolving into CiraHub”, and its successor is marketed as CiraSync Hub, an enterprise data-sync platform. If you used SyncGene to keep calendars aligned, you probably do not need an enterprise platform. Avum is a dedicated calendar sync service for individuals, with transparent pricing from $5 a month and a 30-day trial.

First, list what SyncGene does for you

SyncGene's calendar page places calendar sync alongside contacts and tasks. Before you choose a replacement, write down every connection it maintains: the source, the destination and what is copied. Include shared address books and task lists, even if you rarely look at them.

That list usually splits into two decisions. Contacts, tasks and centrally managed company data belong with a broader platform such as CiraSync Hub. Calendar sync can move to a dedicated tool, and often improves when it does.

Why Avum is a strong home for your calendar sync

Every calendar you use

Avum connects Google, Outlook, iCloud, CalDAV servers such as Fastmail and Nextcloud, and ICS feeds such as school timetables and rotas. ICS feeds are read-only, so Avum copies their events into your writable calendars.

Private by default where it matters

Each Sync Rule chooses which details reach the destination. A personal appointment can appear in work Outlook as “Busy”, without its title, notes or location, while your own calendar keeps the full event.

Filters and a combined view

Rules can filter by attendance, availability, color, weekdays, hours and date range, so only the right events are copied. Avum Calendar shows all connected calendars together in up to three time zones.

Simple pricing

Avum costs $5, $7 or $10 a month for 2, 4 or 10 connected accounts, with no plan limit on the calendars inside them. Yearly plans cost $50, $70 or $100.

Moving your calendar sync safely

Learn how to remove SyncGene's copies while you still have access. Then turn off one SyncGene calendar connection at a time and enable the matching Avum rule, so a destination never receives two copies of the same appointment. Switching sync tools without duplicates explains the order, and the sync test checklist helps you confirm each route.

Keep any contact or task connections running until you have a replacement for them.
