How to Sync Nextcloud Calendar with Google or Outlook
Keep Nextcloud as the source of your appointments and choose what Google or Outlook needs from it: a reference view, access to edit the same calendar, or separate busy events. Before connecting, open one appointment in Nextcloud's web Calendar app and confirm its time. Correct the original there if it is already wrong.
Use a subscription for reference
Nextcloud can publish calendars through public links. Its public calendar page provides subscription and export options. Recipients can view published calendars but cannot edit them, as described in Nextcloud's sharing documentation.
If publishing is suitable for the information involved, copy the subscription link. In Google Calendar on a computer, use Other calendars → From URL. In Outlook on the web, use Add calendar → Subscribe from web. Give the calendar a name that identifies Nextcloud as its source.
Changes appear after the subscriber refreshes the feed. A subscription is useful for reference, but does not guarantee immediate updates or write appointments into your primary work calendar. Turning a feed into busy copies is a separate task.
For personal or confidential schedules, consider an authenticated account connection instead of a public link. A calendar app that supports both accounts may provide all the visibility you need without publishing anything.
Edit the original through a CalDAV client
Nextcloud supports calendar clients through CalDAV. Apple Calendar, Thunderbird, and compatible mobile clients can connect to the original account. Use the server's own connection instructions and an app password where its security settings require one.
For classic Outlook on Windows, Outlook CalDav Synchronizer is a desktop option. Create a profile connecting the intended Nextcloud calendar and Outlook folder. Check the direction carefully, preferably with a separate test calendar first. Some modes can carry edits and deletions both ways. Read the official profile documentation before choosing.
This add-in only syncs on a computer where classic desktop Outlook is running. It does not run in a browser or new Outlook. For somebody who already works there, that may be entirely acceptable.
When an app connects directly to Nextcloud, it's clear which account holds the original. Select the Nextcloud calendar in the event editor so new appointments are saved there.
Copy busy time into Google or Microsoft
Suppose a family commitment lives in Nextcloud but colleagues schedule against your Microsoft 365 account. Seeing the calendars together helps you remember the appointment; a Busy copy in the work calendar can make the occupied time visible to their scheduling checks.
For occasional appointments, manually add that work block. For a changing schedule, a hosted copying service can maintain it.
In Avum, connect the Nextcloud account using its CalDAV details and connect Google or Microsoft. Create a Sync Rule with the relevant Nextcloud calendar as source and the required work calendar as destination. Use a generic title and omit personal fields when the work calendar only needs availability.
Avum supports CalDAV, but Nextcloud installations vary. Confirm the server is reachable, the sign-in method works, and any destination allows writes. For a private server, review cloud access to a self-hosted calendar with its administrator.
Create a test event in Nextcloud, move it, and inspect the other provider's website. Then delete the test and check the destination. Include a recurring exception if your timetable has any.
Duplicate paths and disconnection
Avoid running an independent feed-copying workflow and another sync tool into the same destination without a clear reason. Two writers can leave duplicate events. Also check shared calendar permissions if a calendar appears but rejects edits.
To stop the arrangement, disable its rule or desktop profile, review copy cleanup while access still works, and then revoke credentials. Continue making appointment changes in Nextcloud.
