How to Add a University Timetable to Your Everyday Calendar
Bring your university timetable into Google, Outlook, or Apple Calendar with the institution's subscription link. Keep the university as the source of class times and check its portal for urgent changes.
If the institution supplies a downloadable file instead, you can import that snapshot. A button labeled “calendar export” may offer either option, so identify which you have before adding it.
Find the university's supported calendar option
Sign in to the official student portal and open your timetable or calendar. Select the relevant program, term, and classes before looking for Subscribe, iCalendar, ICS, or Calendar export.
If the portal offers a subscription URL, copy that link. If it downloads an ICS file, treat it as a snapshot unless the institution explicitly says otherwise.
Institutions configure portal versions and access differently. Ask the student support desk if a calendar option is missing.
If your university uses Neptun
The current Neptun student-web documentation describes a Naptár letöltése calendar-download menu. It distinguishes Feliratkozási link másolása, which copies a subscription address, from Szűrt naptár exportálása, which downloads an ICS snapshot. It also describes subscription options for calendar applications. The vendor's calendar documentation explains these choices in Hungarian.
Check whether the export follows the selected calendar filters and whether it contains classes, exams, tasks, or other notices.
Keep a personal subscription URL private. It may identify your timetable even if it does not visibly contain your name.
Add the timetable to your calendar
In Google Calendar on a computer, use the plus button beside Other calendars, then From URL, and paste the subscription address. Follow the Google Calendar subscription steps if you need the full path.
In Outlook on the web, use Add calendar → Subscribe from web and name the timetable clearly.
On iPhone or Mac, add the calendar subscription and choose iCloud as its account or location if you want it on devices using the same Apple Account.
If you have only a file, import it into a separate timetable calendar where possible. That makes the snapshot easier to identify later. Google documents that imports do not stay synchronized with the source and may omit some information; see its import guide.
Classes, exceptions, and deadlines
Compare a regular teaching day with the university portal. Then check an exam, a changed class, or a holiday week. Confirm start and end times, room details, and whether repeating events stop at the correct term boundary.
An all-day deadline is not a full day of attendance. Decide which classes or exams need to block work time.
Subscriptions can refresh slowly. For a same-day change, check the university's official portal or notification channel. If a published change never arrives, investigate subscription refresh and access.
Add work availability only where needed
A timetable displayed beside work appointments may be excluded from the calendars a shift-booking tool checks. Inspect its settings, or manually add busy blocks for classes that constrain your work hours.
For regular class changes, use the university's authorized ICS feed as an Avum source and select the work calendar in a Sync Rule. Copy the class times with a generic busy title when coworkers do not need course names or rooms.
This is calendar-feed integration, not a special Neptun API connection. The timetable remains controlled by the institution, and ICS links are read-only sources. Inspect the receiving calendar using the feed-to-busy-time steps.
The next semester
At the end of the semester, confirm whether the feed rolls forward or a new one is required. Remove obsolete subscriptions carefully and review any independent copies before adding the next timetable.
